NSS CA devotedly presents Attukal Pongala 2026, on March 1st, at Sri Vallabha Maha Ganapathi Temple, 11355 Monterey Hwy, San Martin, CA 95046.

Attukal Pongala festival is renowned as the largest gathering of women for a festival worldwide.

Celebrated annually, this event draws millions of women who come to offer

                                                                                    Pongala to the goddess Bhagavathy, affectionately known as ‘Attukalamma‘.                                                                                       

During the ritual, women prepare Pongala, a sweet dish made from rice, jaggery, coconut, and plantains, in earthen pots.

This practice, which means ‘to boil over,‘ is believed to appease the goddess, bringing prosperity and blessings to their households.

Team NSS is ready with all the preparations for this huge event. Be part of a ritual conducted in all its sanctity, and immerse yourself in a divine experience!

NSS will be providing the below items in the Pongala Kit:

• Butane Gas Stove (one square stove and required butane cannister per participant)

• 2.5ltr Earthen Pot with Lid

• Water

• Rice

• Jaggery (powdered)

• Shredded Coconut

• Banana Leaf

• Ghee

• Banana

• Cardamom(powdered)

• Raisins

• Cashew.

We will also be providing Photo of Attukal Devi, Chandanam (Sandalwood Paste) and Kumkumam. The event will be followed by lunch and prasadam distribution.

NSS members are requested to login before proceeding to the registration.

Registration fee includes above mentioned items, facility charges, priest/temple donation and cleaning fee. The event will be conducted within the temple premises outdoors, in 2 time slots at 10:30am and 12:00pm. Seating will be on the floor, hence, please bring amenities as per your comfort (if necessary).

Note: All mentioned items except butane gas stove can be taken home by the participant.

Accompanying family members and guests coming to witness pongala should also register as Additional Guests. Children are not allowed to sit next to participants due to safety concerns and space issues between two stoves.
